Air Asia x Lizzy Hoo
This campaign with Air Asia and Lizzy Hoo saw us tapping into a comedy classic to big up the air carrier to local audience.
The brief
Air Asia had signed on Lizzy Hoo for a we month campaign to launch in 2025. They needed a locally based production house with an eye for comedy to produce their four main campaign videos for social media as well as support them in the production of a number of assets such as stills photography and recording in flight announcements.
Air Asia wanted to reestablish themselves in the Australian market, particularly with the younger generation.
The brand has a history of not taking themselves to seriously and love to inject some fun into their campaigns - setting them apart from other carriers.
Our approach - Hoo? Air Asia
This campaign is a play “Who’s on first”, playing on on the confusion between “who” and “Hoo”, amping up the comedy of errors while also being able to list all of Air Asia’s excellent qualities.
Every time the voiceover says the word “who” Lizzy pops up! Lizzy has been accidentally dragged in, whether she’s in the middle of baking a cake for a competition or driving herself for a $9 coffee.
This summoning happens over the top of a more traditional-style airline campaign - causing much confusion frustration for our professional voice over artist.
Our services
We had a tight turnaround for this project, locking in the creative idea 6th of January and filming the week of the 20th.
As always, we started with scripting and then put together a pre-vis to help show how the idea would look on screen.
Whilst pre-vis was being approved we began work with our team pulling together the styling and art and scheduling a 2 day shoot in our studios.
The campaign was shot against a green screen with stock Air Asia footage to create the “ad-within-an-ad” concept.

1 x 60 and 1 x 30 hero campaigh videos with a focus on vertical for social media (though 16:9 was also provided)

We created a fun collaborative campaign that managed to list of Air Asa’s excellent qualities while being engaging and suited to Lizzy’s humour and personality. The campaign launched March 1 and you can view the first video via Lizzy’s instagram.
